Print Sketch

Print Sketch Critique

1. Why is texture so important to have in your sketches?
In order to make the sketch seem real, you need texture so the animal contrasts from the background. the texture is important because it must show the lines and shapes. texture distinguishess the objects in the picture. it makes the picture look more 3D, instead of flat. the animal shouldnt blend into the background.

2. Why is it neccessary for you to have several references of each animal and each background? Explain.
because when you are drawing them, there are different ways to look at them. you have to be able to choose the right background for the way the animal is positioned or how it looks. having several references is better than having just one or two. each different view helps you draw the animal and background.

3. When you look at your sketches are you able to see which sketch is the strongest and will make the best print? How do you know this?
yes. The one with the most texture and detail will make the best print. The print is only a portion of the sketch, but it is important to but alot of effort into it all. my lionfish, as shown above, will most likely make the best print. I put the most effort and detail into it, even though it was one of the hardest of my sketches.
